Summer is a great time to entertain outdoors, especially if you have a great backyard. Whether you’re just having a few friends over or hosting an outdoor party for your entire family, getting out of the house and enjoying some time outside can be a great change of pace.
Moving the party outdoors does require a few changes and things to be aware of. First of all, you’ll have to do some yard work. Just like cleaning your dining room indoors, you’ll want to be sure your outdoor area looks nice. Clean off your lawn furniture, make sure your yard is mowed and your flowerbeds are looking nice, and be sure you’ve got adequate lighting if your party is going to take place in the evening.
Make sure you’ve got some bug repelling candles, spray, and other items to keep the pests away from your guests. Many of these candles now come in decorative styles so they look great and repel mosquitos and other bugs.
Even though most of the party is going to be outdoors, remember that your guests may need to go inside for various reasons. Be sure to clean house, or at least the rooms guests may be in!
If you have pets in your backyard, you may need to shut them in a separate part of the yard, especially if they may try to steal food or jump up on your guests.
For entertainment, there’s a lot you can do outdoors. You can bring out the same board games you would play inside, or you can set up some outdoor games. You might play crochet, badminton, or basketball, if you’ve got the equipment. You can also sit outdoors and just visit.
